Lavender
One of the most versatile and popular perennial herbs, lavender can be grown in herb gardens, perennial flower beds and cutting gardens. It's also very showy when planted in groups or massed. This sun-loving perennial returns year after year and is both deer resistant and drought tolerant. Blooming in the summertime, its fragrant flowers attract butterflies. Lavender is used for fresh floral bouquets and dried for use in sachets and potpourris. Most lavender plant varieties grow in zones 5-8. When buying perennial lavender plants for the garden, make sure the variety is suitable for your grow zone and note its mature height and spread as well as other growing requirements.
