Shade/Partial Shade
Brighten shaded areas and woodland gardens with perennials that perform well with little or no direct sunlight. Some of the most popular shade perennials are ferns and hostas. Grown primarily for their foliage, these classic shade plants add texture and shades of green to the garden. Most grow well with less than four hours of direct sunlight daily. Flowering shade perennials, like primrose and Lily of the Valley, add pops of color to shade gardens. When selecting perennials for shaded areas, make sure they are suitable for your grow zone. Also check their soil requirements, height and spread at maturity, bloom and foliage color, and bloom time (if applicable).
