Peppers
A popular vegetable to grow, sweet and hot peppers thrive in the sunny garden, well-drained soil and warm weather. They can also be grown in containers. Today's gardeners can choose from a variety of pepper seeds, from the sweet and crisp California Wonder Sweet Pepper to the super-hot ghost pepper—and many heat levels in between. Peppers are warm-season vegetables, and many gardeners start pepper seeds indoors about six weeks before the last spring frost date. Because pepper plants have attractive, lush foliage, some gardeners incorporate them into the edible landscape. Cayenne-type peppers, with their long, red fruits, are quite ornamental.
