Hanson's Bush Cherry
Hanson's Bush Cherry
This shrubby cherry grows only 4-5' tall and wide and provides tangy-sweet cherries in mid-summer that measure about 1/2" across. Best flavor is achieved when the fruit turns very dark purple. The nutritious fruit can be eaten fresh off the bush or used in preserves. Very adaptable to moist, sandy or rocky soils. The shrub is very ornamental, providing lots of white flowers in late spring and red foliage in the fall. Self pollinating, but planting 2 or more ensures the best yields. Zones 2-8.
